Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) unveiled the first floor renovation, as part of the first phase of the $106m Nadi Airport Modernisation Project (NATMP),on Monday November 16, as previously reported.

With AFL’s vision to modernise the airport, the Tappoo Group invested in excess of F$10m in the new stores. The investment in tiling, ceiling, lighting, and fitout, puts Tappoo Duty Free amongst the finest in the world, said the retailer, and the state of the art store “looks every bit as good as duty-free stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and New York”.

“We are delighted that Airports Fiji Limited had a vision to transform the Nadi International Airport into a modern, elegant looking airport. This gave us the opportunity to invest into a new world class Tappoo Fiji Duty Free store,” said the retailer in a statement.

Tappoo has introduced MAC cosmetics for the first time at Nadi International airport, following its recent success at TappooCity Suva just two months ago.

The store also features a new modernised Fiji Market concept in an effort to embrace the Fiji Government’s vision to promote local artifacts to the world. “Our range in the Fiji market section showcases the vast talent that the Fijian people have to offer in their creative artifacts. The Estée Lauder Companies-owned makeup brand MAC Cosmetics has named American rapper Saweetie as its new Global Brand Ambassador.

Saweetie, whose real name is Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, is recognised as a leader of the female rap renaissance. She rose to fame after the release of her debut single ‘Icy Girl’ and has released a number of other hit singles including ‘Best Friend’ and ‘My Type’.

As MAC Cosmetics Global Brand Ambassador, she will become the face of MAC’s key campaigns and will work alongside MAC Makeup Artists to develop signature looks. Saweetie will also share her beauty secrets and MAC makeup tricks with her fans on social media.

Commenting on Saweetie’s appointment, MAC Cosmetics Global Creative Director Drew Elliott said: “Saweetie is one of those people that truly does it all – musician, CEO, actress, TV show host, gamer, viral sensation, the list goes on. She is an extreme talent and is relatable. She is all of our best friends.”
